Synonyms



We have learned that while reading, you may see questions centered around the reading strand word meaning and choice. These questions sometimes require the reader to find synonyms. Create one (1) post on the blog and respond to two (2) peers.
  • How can you use synonyms to help you answer questions?
  • What are some pairs of synonyms that you have learned?
Check the blog before class numerous times and engage in a conversation with your peers.

  2. AWT, We have learned while reading, Synonyms provide alternate Possibilities for a word(s) . When answering questions, The replacing certant words With synonyms allows the reader to gain a better understanding of what is being asked.

    Happy,Elated
    Big , Enormous
    Wide, Vast

    1. Hi Nery, great list! Your synonyms all are the same part of speech which makes them more exact. This is excellent. Can you identify the part o speech of each pair? (EX: noun, adjective, adverb etc..)

      I think. Shay, timid, weslthy and rich are adjectives.
      Refuse and reject are verbs.

  5. You can use synonyms to answer the questions by interpreting any words you don’t Know. For example you can interpret any word because it might have the same meaning as another synonym

    regret strongly.
    -Delinquent
    a young offender.
    -Exude
    make apparent by one's mood or behavior.
    -Clique
    an exclusive circle of people with a common purpose.
    -Palpable
    capable of being perceived.
    -Dignity
    the quality of being worthy of esteem or respect.
    -Ghetto
    a poor densely populated city district.
    -Ingenuity
    the power of creative imagination.
    -Charisma
    personal attractiveness that enables you to influence others.
    -Panoramic
    as from an altitude or distance.
