Word Problems
Over the past week, we have learned how to solve addition and subtraction word problems. We made charts that explained the math words associated with each operation. We also learned how to mark our word problems in order to better evaluate them.
- Create a post in which you create either an addition or a subtraction word problem.
- Try to solve two (2) of your classmates word problems. What are the math words that you would box?

ReplyDeleteGary bought a bag of fruit candy and sorted the candies by flavor. He had 5 cherry candies, 1 orange candies, 4 lemon candies, and 4 lime candies. How many total candies were in the bag?
ReplyDeleteHi Nery.
DeleteI would Circle Number 5 number 1 and both # 4.
I would underline, how many total candies where in the bag?
I would box the word brought,
I would box the words how many
I would box the word Total.
Total amount is 14
5 + 1 + 4 + 4 = 14
Good insight, Anthony.
DeleteNery, you created a meaningful word problem and used the word "total" correctly. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI need to buy a present for my son.He want a game it cost $155 dollars and a C.D that cost $60 dollars but I have a bodget of $200 dollars. How much more money do I need to save to buy my son gifts.
ReplyDeleteHi Mercedes.
ReplyDeleteI would begin by circling $155 then $60 then $200
Then I would underline, How much more money do I need to save to buy my son's gift?
Then I wouldn't box the word buy, cost, budget, and How much,
The amount she needs to complete the purchase is $15.
$155 + $60 = $215 - $15 = $200
