Base-10 Number System

We began analyzing how the Base 10 Number System uses place value to assign digits a value name within a number. Create one (1) post sharing what you know about place value and respond to two (2) of your classmates. ( Hint: use the red vocabulary words to help you begin writing.)

  1. Every number we write has a place value. Every position of the digits is a place value. No matter how many digits you write to describe a quantity, Every digit in the quantity will have a place value.

    5. A way to write numbers by showing the value of each digit is the
      Expanded Form.

      Example.
      742= 700+40+2
the value of 7 is 700
the value of 4 is 40
the value of 2 is 2

  2. the base of 10 is the column where we write the numbers, that represent the quantities for example. one unit, ten, units one hundred and we get to millions, each number has a value for example if we have 150 the zero is equal to zero, the 5 is equal to 50 the one is equal to hundred total 150. If it is not correct please explain it again thank you

    5. Ex: 96,543. = 90,000+6,000+500+40+3
      90,000
      6,000
      500
      40
      + 3
      _____________
      96,543

  3. Hi I'm Anthony. Base 10 number system uses place value to assign digits a value name within a number example 362 equals 300+60+2 any combination of digits. This is the decimal system we use each day, it is based on the number 10. Every number has a place value and value. This is a way to write numbers by showing the value of each digit. Place value is based on the position of a number and the value is the amount. Standard form is a way to write numbers using digits from 0 - 9 example 362. And expanded form is showing the value of each digit.

  4. Mercedes, place value describe how big or small the number is. It’s depending on the position, going to the left of the decimal the number gets smaller ,going to the right the number gets bigger in value

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hi I'm Anthony. Mercedes the place value gets larger going to the left of the decimal, going to the right of the decimal the place value gets smaller.
And the value of the digit depends on the number (0-9) and using the base 10 system.

  6. Hi, I am Maria, analyzing bace ten number

We analyze ten numbers by placing them in order from 1to 9 each digit has a place value, if we write ones tens hundre thousands ten thousands millions 531example 5 equal fifty 3 equal 30 and 1 eguals ten or 500+30+1=531

  7. Maria, thank you for the overview of the base 10 system. Don't forget the hundred thousands place (after the ten thousands). If 531 is our example, the value of "5" is "500."

  8. Okay,I will keep that in mind thanks

  9. The base 10 number system is what we use each day. It is based on the number 10 and it helps you determine the value of a number.
Place Value: The worth of a number based on its position
    example: in the number 563
the value of the number 5 is 500
Value: The amount of the number in the place value
example: the two in 432,867 is in the thousands place

  10. The place value is show us how they organize whole numbers in "families" called Once,Thousands, millions, billions, and so on.
Each family has three[3] members: ones, tans and hundreds...commas are used to separate the families to help us to understand them more and make it easier
The value of digit is determined by its place in the number.

  11. Hello I'm Sidia, and I'm little confuse about the class on Wednesday,if I have 714 /4 goes dow change number 4 for a zero because is one place and 1 and 7 leave like that or if have 715 goes up to 720 I think is like that, but if is not please explain me thanks

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi I'm Anthony. Using the number 714 to rounded it to the nearest 10, because the four is smaller than 5 the number becomes 710. Using the number 715 rounding to the nearest ten you are right this number will become 720.
