A suffix can be used at the end of a word to add additional meaning to the value of something

example:during a work meeting I realized the value of a product was much higher than the normal items we bring in on a regular.

the er at the end of higher is being used as a adjective and suffix to denote the person in question is surprised by the overall value of the item as it is not normal for them to see such a thing at work.

  16. WHAT IS A PREFIX?
Come at the beginning of the word, and change the meaning of the word.

    WHAT IS A SUFFIX?
Come at the end of the word, change the meaning of the word and help to identify the part of the speech of a word.

These word parts help us to define the meaning of a unknown word because when you identify the prefixes and suffixes, even if you don't know the meaning of the word, you can have an idea of the meaning if you know the meaning of the prefixes and suffixes.
