We have begun to learn how to compare fractions with the same numerators and denominators, how to move between fractions and mixed numbers, and how to find equivalent fractions.
- Create one post in which you choose and explain a fractional topic we have learned.
- Include either a link or an image that helps illustrate/explain your point within your post. Feel free to do both.
- Check the blog regularly and comment and respond to at least three (3) classmates.
- Remember that this is an educational tool and follow up is necessary after class time in order to solidify our knowledge.

a denominator is the bottpom part of a fraction. It describes the total number of equal parts. https://youtu.be/lxjmR4pYIVU?t=8
ReplyDeletewell put with example :)
DeleteCan you make a little example

DeleteAn improper fraction has a numerator that is larger than the denominator. You can divide an improper fraction to create a mixed number. The value of the improper fraction and the mixed number will be the same.

ReplyDeleteAn Improper Fraction has a top number larger than (or equal to) the bottom number.
ReplyDelete7/4
(seven-fourths or seven-quarters)
More Examples
3/2 7/3 16/15 15/15 100/5
See how the top number is bigger than (or equal to) the bottom number?
That makes it an Improper Fraction, (but there is nothing wrong about Improper Fractions).

nice descriptive explanation osmin :)
Delete10/3
Delete, the
10 can be divided by 3
to take out the number of times
3 occurs in 10.
10/3= 9+1/3= 3.3.3+1/3= 3(3)+1/3= 3 1/3
nice information osmin

Deletethank you so much EMELY, KENI, AND YIRELY
Deletegood explanation !
DeleteA mixed number is a combination of a whole number and a fraction. EXAMPLE: 2 1/4 , 3 3/4. Some improper fractions will not divide evenly to create a whole number. in that case, the result is a mixed number.
ReplyDelete15/4 divided by 4 is 3 with a remainder of 3. The number 3 becomes the whole number, the remainder becomes the numerator, and he denominator stays the same.
DeleteThis results in 3 3/4
this is a visual example: https://hi-static.z-dn.net/files/d3d/c883e38240af3dc23cd0cc2a2debd0d9.jpg

ReplyDeleteA proper fraction. A proper fraction has a denominator that is larger than the numerator for more information go to https://youtu.be/3-b_0z9v7aI
ReplyDeletecould you state your own example of a proper fraction? :)
DeleteWhen comparing two fraction the denominator the same the larger the numerator the bigger the fraction. to verified the information click the link www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNdUJQ_qd4U
Deleteyou are correct
Deletehey ken, this is the example 4/12 < 6/12 3/8 < 7/10 need more let me know.
Deletethank you Yirely
Deletewhen we are comparing fractions and the denominators are the same in every fraction, the fraction with the bigger numerator will be the bigger fraction. If we are comparing fractions with the same numerators. The fraction with the bigger denominator will be the smaller fraction.

ReplyDeleteConvert from fraction to decimals.
ReplyDeleteA fraction is a number which value is less than 1. it is written a number with one number above another and a bar between them.
The numerator tells how may parts of the whole.
The denominator is the number below the bar; tells you the total
number of equal of parts.
to convert a fraction number from decimals:
The numerator will become the dividend and the denominator into divisor.
Add decimal point and zero without change the value of the dividend.
The decimal point of the quotient is always above of the decimal point of the dividend.
